Agatha Kaspar
Born and raised in Canada, Agatha’s first venture into music was at an early age through learning classical piano repertoire. Whether it was skipping home from school to James Horner’s theme to Casper, or air conducting Yoko Kanno’s lush Escaflowne soundtrack, many tiny seeds were planted that ultimately grew into an eclectic career in film music and concert writing.
Agatha’s film scores have played at many festivals including Cannes, Tribeca, Slamdance, the Los Angeles Film Festival, and the Toronto International Film Festival. Her screen credits include Obama Revealed (CNN), Drowning (PBS), Marisol (HBO Go and HBO Latino), Copenhagen (winner of the Audience Award at the 2014 Slamdance Film Festival), Kodachrome (a Netflix film starring Ed Harris, Jason Sudeikis and Elizabeth Olsen), and The Long Weekend (TVO). She teamed up with director Mark Raso once again for the upcoming film The Ugly Chickens (produced by George R. R. Martin).
Agatha has recently provided music for television shows including original songs and the title music for Ginny & Georgia (Netflix), title music for Stuff The British Stole (ABC/CBC), an original score for the ongoing series Moonshine (CBC/The CW), and original music for the new documentary series An Optimist’s Guide to the Planet (Bloomberg Originals) hosted by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.
Agatha’s musical path has allowed her to experiment with a variety of instruments and techniques including layering her own vocals, shaping gritty guitar swells, and practicing her trusty shō. Her piece Seavoda for piano and orchestra, funded by the Canada Council for the Arts, is now available on all streaming platforms.
