JUAN CORTÉS

Juan Cortés is a Colombian film music composer currently residing in Los Angeles. His work expands across a variety of genres and styles, including but not limited to orchestral composition and chamber pieces. His most recent work includes the award-winning Netflix series Watership Down, Uruguayan film A Twelve-Year Night, animated surrealist drama Buñuel in the Labyrinth of the Turtles, and an American romance Life Itself. Hailed from Bogota, Colombia and immersed intensively in European culture at Madrid, Spain in his early youth, Juan Cortés bears an intermingled Latin American and European cultural heritages.

He is currently working with Award winning composer Federico Jusid, as a composer and sound designer for his company Metronome MP. Juan had the opportunity to observe the importance of not only talent, but also, the value of teamwork and communication. Throughout 2016 and 2018, Juan collaborated on a number of feature-films such as “Neruda”(Pablo Larrain), “Early Man”(Aardman Animations), and “Loving Pablo”(Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz).
