Emily Greene
Emily Greene is a Los Angeles-based composer and artist, whose music reflects the unique alchemy of her formal jazz training and ten years touring the globe with some of the world’s most celebrated indie-rock bands. Combining street cred and studied craft, Emily Greene is an artist and songwriter with a jazzer head and an indie heart.
Most recently, Emily composed the music for Good Girl, a queer erotic thriller written and directed by Lauren Garrone. Recent credits also include All the World is Sleeping, starring Melissa Barrera, and Ace Pictures’ Recipe for Love.
As a frequent collaborator with composer Dan Romer, Emily has worked with filmmakers such as Cary Fukunaga, Jeff Baena, and Benh Zeitlin, and her voice has been featured in compositions for Superman & Lois (NBC), Wendy (Fox Searchlight) Maniac (Netflix), The Little Hours (Gunpwder & Sky), and Beasts of No Nation (Netflix), among many others. Her voice was e featured on the HBO miniseries Station Eleven, including original songs written with creator Patrick Somerville (Maniac, The Leftovers) for an accompanying album.
Born and raised in Miami, Emily studied jazz piano at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. After touring the country in support of her debut album, Is This What You Had in Mind, Emily joined Passion Pit on their worldwide Gossamer tour, including dates at Reading & Leads, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Summer Sonic, and Saturday Night Live. After forming her own band, Riothorse Royale, Emily went on the road with Jose Gonzalez, Other Lives, and Lord Huron. Their debut EP, The Guest House, was described by Liz Phair as “Joy Division meets The Raincoats.”
Billboard Magazine magazine named Emily’s cover of “It’s Good to be King” the best Tom Petty cover of all time, second only to John Mayer’s “Free Fallin’.” If you ever meet Emily’s dad at a wedding, in the grocery store, or standing in line at the airport, he will make sure to tell you, “She’s really very good.”
